Laser Treatments in Savannah

The Periolase Laser is a non-invasive alternative to traditional periodontal surgery.  Our practice has invested in the Periolase because we believe it to be the most technologically advanced laser on the market today to treat and prevent tooth loss due to periodontal disease.   The practice began using the Periolase in early 2013 and we have already documented incredible results, including significant bone regeneration.

Periodontal disease is one of the most common of all health problems. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), most American adults struggle with some form of it, whether it’s the less severe form known as gingivitis or the more advanced form known as periodontitis. Left untreated, it can result in tissue loss, bone loss, and eventual tooth loss.

Periodontal disease can also increase a patient’s vulnerability to health problems in the rest of the body. The most common issues periodontal disease has been linked to includes:

Advanced periodontal disease has been traditionally treated with a procedure known as scaling and root planing, also known as a “deep cleaning”. Today, however, there’s a more technologically advanced solution all patients with periodontal disease should be aware of.

Less Invasive Treatment with PerioLase

With the PerioLase dental laser, it’s possible to provide care that is less invasive and more efficient. There are no incisions and no sutures! The PerioLase dental laser is designed to target only the diseased tissue that needs to be removed. This process will not only remove damaged tissue from your mouth, it will also trigger the body to regenerate healthy tissue, resulting in a more stable foundation and improved health. Roughly 98% of patients treated with PerioLase are reported as being in stable condition five years after treatment. Compare this with the 5% who remain stable following traditional gum surgery.  There is also less recession that occurs after laser surgery, which helps to prevent extreme sensitivity to cold, a common side effect of traditional surgery.

In addition to being more efficient and less invasive, patients who undergo treatment with the PerioLase can also look forward to a quicker recovery afterward typically one or two days, as opposed to a week or more.
