Savannah periodontist, Dr. Wylie Gustin

Dr. Wylie Gustin

Associate Periodontist
Diplomate, American Board of Periodontology

Dr. Gustin, a Savannah native, graduated Cum Laude from The University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology. Later he attended the Medical College of Georgia College of Dental Medicine, obtaining his Doctorate of Dental Medicine. Dr. Gustin also completed his residency in periodontics at Augusta University (formerly Medical College of Georgia). During his residency, he gained advanced knowledge of the treatment of periodontal disease, dental implant surgery, gingival grafting, gingival plastic surgery, bone grafting, biologic materials, and IV sedation.

Dr. Gustin is board certified by the American Board of Periodontology and is an active member of the following organizations: American Academy of Periodontology, Southern Academy of Periodontology, Georgia Society of Periodontists, American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, and the Academy of Osseointegration. He serves as adjunct faculty in the Department of Periodontics at his alma mater, Augusta University College of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Gustin focuses on implementing the latest breakthroughs in dental technology in combination with traditional treatment approaches to achieve predictable results. He is certified in the use of both oral and IV sedation techniques and enjoys making surgical procedures less intimidating through the use of both methods.

“I realize dental surgery, however minor, can be very intimidating and a source of severe anxiety. With the sedation resources I implement, no patient has to deal with thoughts of ‘Is it going to hurt?’ or ‘Am I going to feel anything?’ Most patients wake up surprised to learn the procedure is already over.” — Dr. Gustin

Dr. Gustin’s greatest joys are hearing patients say “That was so much easier than I thought it would be” at the end of treatment and providing patients with a smile they can be proud of.

In his spare time, Dr. Gustin enjoys, watersports, beach life, fishing, bird hunting, travelling, and entertaining for family and friends.

As hard as he works, Dr. Gustin enjoys giving back to others. He recently participated in a local dental mission trip in Columbia, SC and has plans to participate in several upcoming international mission trips.

He is excited to be a part of our team serving the community he grew up in and the surrounding areas.
